About The Role

We are looking for a part time commercial/compliance lawyer to join our growing In-house legal team.

Hours of work: 25 hours per week with flexibility on days

Location: Remote
 

The legal team has high calibre lawyers closely connected with the retail, trading, marketing and finance teams. They offer pragmatic, sensible legal advice to enable the business to reach its objectives and manage risk. The legal team was shortlisted for ‘In-house (Retail) Team of the Year’ (The Lawyer Awards 2021).

Reporting to the General Counsel, this role is broad and varied with a high level of autonomy and responsibility to provide sound legal advice across a complex matrix organisation influencing from the shop floor to the executive.

Your main responsibilities

  • Advising on a broad range of legal matters, including contracts, regulatory and compliance, data protection, marketing, and intellectual property
  • Proactively monitoring legal and regulatory developments, highlighting any current and emerging risks relating to food, alcohol and tobacco promotion affecting the business
  • Providing day to day support and guidance to the business on all aspects of commercial law, regulatory compliance (e.g. food, alcohol and tobacco promotion, competition law, anti-bribery and corruption, GDPR) and risk management
  • Leading policy and commercial decisions on regulatory matters through representation on cross-department projects

About You

  • Experienced commercial or compliance solicitor, ideally with experience working in-house
  • Established track record of dealing with a wide variety of legal issues
  • Resilient, enthusiastic, and proactive in setting own agenda
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
