About The Role

Are you looking to start your career in Trading? We have a fantastic development opportunity as a Trading Assistant to support our fast paced, close knit Trading team.

You will be the right arm of the Category Manager, working closely with our suppliers, marketing, and the central operations team to make sure all trading-specific administrative processes are carried out.

As part of your development, you may support and at times shadow the Category Manager with involvement in ranging, pricing, promotions, supplier strategy and specific trading initiatives and events.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Product and pricing tasks on trading systems
  • Competitor price checking versus Bestway current or future pricing - price changes actioned in line with current pricing policy
  • Administering the invoicing process, and logging retailer retros on the system
  • Maintain and build on supplier relationships in a highly demanding commercial moving market
  • Requesting appropriate information from the supply base for promotions and seasonal events
  • Providing product code and descriptions in line with the promotional planning process to relevant stakeholders as appropriate
  • Responding to retailer queries received via customer services
  • The maintenance of information databases including supplier records
  • Central Price File and RMS Trading Platform administration for specific product categories
  • Ranging and pricing of new products in line with current policies
  • Dealing with category specific queries internally and externally from suppliers and retailers
  • Source, record and analyse, where appropriate, category performance data, supplier income, media spend and produce promotional forecast
  • Creating and tracking invoices for supplier activity and annual agreements

About You

  • Previous experience within a retail environment or commercially aware would be preferred
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Confident, driven and enthusiasm to learn and develop your skillset
  • Highly self-motivated with excellent communication and people skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • The ability to meet tight deadlines
  • An understanding of the negotiation process and basic negotiation skills
  • Decision making ability and a sense of responsibility
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Confident using Microsoft Programmes, Excel skills are essential
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
